The Wim Hof Method

Hello Friends,

Now, for those who know me, you can attest that I am not usually one who follows fads or runs with the crowds. However, I was recently introduced to the enlightenment that is Wim Hof. Instantly I was entranced by his ability to actually make sense of an idea that I would have normally found crazy. His feats were just too absurd to be ignored! I couldn’t turn myself away from his knowledge and ability to control his body and overall, his destiny.

Who is this man you might ask?

Honestly, I’m pretty sure he is a real life miracle worker. He holds 26 world records. He’s climbed Mount Everest in nothing but his shorts. He’s able to be submerged in ice water for 2 hours without his body core temperature changing from the normal 37 degrees celsius, even when his skin was zero degrees celsius. He was able to be injected with a bacterial endotoxin and use his breathing technique to control his body to secrete enough adrenaline to fight it off. I know what you’re thinking… “K Julie, he’s obviously just a crazy freak of nature.” But no, he was able to train 12 other individuals to learn his breathing technique and they had the same endotoxin injected to reveal the same results. The craziest part, it only took him 4 days to be able to train them to fight off this bacterial injection. 16,000 people had tried this in the past with unsuccessful results. Yet Wim Hof has proved countless times now that he is able to tap into the central nervous system and take control to beat many odds.

How does he do this?

Wim uses a combination of breathing technique, cold therapy and commitment to accomplish his feats. It’s almost like a form of meditation. But it’s much more than that, it’s a way of life.

Nobody wants to be unhappy or not strong. But they lack this ability to use their brain to overcome these challenges. I have decided to commit a minimum of 30 minutes per day to focus on bettering my life. It’s been a little over a week since I began my journey on the Wim Hof method, and I must say, I’m feeling amazing. I’m able to focus better and sleep through the entire night without waking up. I’m noticing less pain in my leg and back and can physically accomplish much more than I previously could. If this is my indicator of success after only 7 days, I look forward to seeing what I can accomplish after another mere 7 days!
